The way it is written is what shocks the most: as if it is a common thing to be a killer who has to choose between his job and his feelings. Furthermore, the final decision is taken quickly and easily. What leaves you more dazed maybe is that it is written in the first person, so it is the killer himself who speaks and reports his adventures in such a detached way.
Because of this way of writing, the book reminds you of "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" of GG Marquez, but in this case the plot is much easier than that of Marquez.
All this leads to a book that is read easily but left me quite dazed.
Breve e conciso. Una lettura concentrata in poche pagine, non difficile ma neanche leggera.
Di questo libro colpisce il modo semplice in cui è scritto, come se essere un sicario e trovarsi, nel finale, a scegliere tra lavoro e sentimenti (e la decisione presa tanto facilmente quanto repentinamente) siano le cose più comuni al mondo. Il fattore che forse lascia più straniti è la narrazione in prima persona: è il sicario stesso a parlare, a riportare le sue avventure con toni tanto asciutti.
Il racconto delle vicende in modo così distaccato ricorda "Cronaca di una morte annunciata" di G.G. Marquez, ma in questo caso lo sviluppo è sicuramente meno complesso che in quello di Marquez.
Il tutto da' forma ad un romanzo scorrevole che mi ha lasciata particolarmente stranita.
